Sharing my Story

Since returning to my creativity, I have worked to fit art in "when I have time." And...as it happens...what this meant was that I was doing art less and less. Some months meant that I did not pick up a brush at all. This did not feel good to me. I didn't want to look back at this time, however busy, and miss the opportunity to grow in my art. So, starting in January 2019, I committed to starting every day with art. What that means to me is that I wake up at 4:30 a.m. every morning to paint. And you know what? If I have ever been tempted to write a love letter to a city, it has been to Spokane. The green, the bridges, the grit, the sparkle. The pioneering spirit. It is steady, yet growing. It is small town with an unexpected city vibe. Oh, Spokane. The place my husband and I spent our early newlywed years - it has a special place in my heart. For those outside the Pacific Northwest area, Spokane is a city in Eastern Washington. It is a city of four seasons with hot, dry summers and cold, snowy winters. Start with Art

I start my mornings at 4:30 a.m. with black coffee, a podcast (currently hooked on the NPR "How I Built This" series) and ART. I sit alone in my studio for a few hours every morning and I get to be alone with my creativity. It is a beautiful thing.
