Newport, Washington is nestled along the Pend Oreille River in the far northeast corner of Washington State. With trees and wildlife abounding. A city website points to the ease of passing through on the way from one place to another but it looks like the kind of little town that some people have come to and stayed in. Similar to other western towns, it sprang up to support industry and commerce and grew enough to maintain a post office and police department. The current Main Street features antique stores and a cafe or two. Flags flap in the wind. A slice of Americana and ode to days-gone-by!
